A few other honeymoon details...

The resort was AMAZING! It did not disappoint at all. Our room had a jacuzzi tub,

giant four poster king sized bed,

a fully stocked, free mini bar,

a great view of the resort,

a balcony,

and 24 hour room service.

The resort had four or five restaurants, several cafes, poolside/beachside wait staff service, and the overall service was great. Most of the staff spoke enough English to get around, but it was also fun to try out some Spanish. I see how a person could quickly learn when really immersed in a language (which this was really only a glimpse of). A few of our friends and relatives were worried about our safety traveling to Mexico, but we felt totally safe at the resort. No problems like that at all. The restaurants also did a fairly good job with the vegetarian options as well.
Basically, everything you could ever want to eat and drink was available all of the time at your beckon call at this resort. What a great way to spend a honeymoon!

Honeymoon Day 5

Day 5: We will be back someday!
On this day, we decided to enjoy the morning as much as we could before it was time to go home. So we ordered room service and then spent some time on the beach.

We then waited for our shuttle in front of the hotel and took some more pictures.

We arrived at the airport fairly early, giving us plenty of time to take in the shopping/commercialization of the Cancun airport- or at least the section of the airport with the American tourist flights! We didn't buy anything but it was interesting.

Again, our flight was non-stop and on time. We arrived to clear, but cold, weather in Minnesota. (Think 9 degrees.)
Although we were quite sad to return to real life, it did feel good to sleep in our own bed. And our kitties were quite happy we returned home. Thanks to Adrienne for watching them.

Honeymoom Day 4

Day 4: We can get used to this!
After another morning of the breakfast buffet (you really could go a long time without eating the same thing twice), we decided we would try the free para-sailing at the resort. The day before we had watched a lot of people trying it, so we decided we would too. (see the picture we took the day before of the mini-sail boats). However, it was not windy at all on this day (making any sailing activities very difficult) so we decided to go kayaking again instead.

The kayaking on this day was so nice! The water was so still and clear. We could see the bottom, fish, and also the coast line. Funny though, we were out awhile when we both realized that the combination all of the floating around, scanning the water for fish, (and perhaps all of the eating and drinking) can make one feel kind of sea sick! So after about 2 hours we headed back to dry land! We then spent the afternoon at the pool-again one of my favorite things. Then after a lunch of tuna (for me) Chris surprised me with a massage and facial at the on site spa!

While I was at the spa, he took pictures and generally relaxed in the room. I enjoyed my spa treatments a lot!
After the spa we spent more time at the pool and the hot tub.
Then we went to the Mexican restaurant on site for dinner. This food was very authentic, no Tex-Mex. They had a dish available that was a salad with fried GRASSHOPPERS on top. Always up for an adventure, I gave it a try. Chris did not as grasshoppers are not a vegetarian option :) They were actually quite good. Go figure!

We filled our jacuzzi later that night with bubble bath and had SO many bubbles. We had a good laugh about that. We also took a walk on the beach that night. So calm at night and so many stars to see in the sky. We really soaked up our last full day at the resort.

Honeymoon Day 3

Day 3: More paradise and luxury.
Well, by day 3 we were really getting into the swing of this kind of vacation. Sounds strange, but to have unlimited everything at your disposal all of the time was actually a bit overwhelming to me! I quickly got used to it...
On this day we had the breakfast buffet again and then decided to try kayaking in the ocean. The resort had free kayaking available. It was a bit windy on this day so the kayaking turned out to be a lot of work. Still really pretty, fun, and interesting, but we only stayed out around an hour. We then ate another Mexican food buffet near the pool for lunch. After lunch we spent most of the afternoon in the heated pool at the resort. It turned out to be one of my favorite parts of the resort. It was so warm, calming, and relaxing. They have a swim up bar as well! (see pic below) Later that afternoon we took another long nap, I had a snack of fried calamari, and then had a nice dinner at the Italian restaurant on site. After dinner we took a walk around the grounds, which we enjoyed. The light up the pools with blue lights at night. So pretty.

Honeymoon Day 2

Day 2 in Paradise:
We woke up and decided to try the breakfast buffet available at one of the on site restaurants. It was amazing! There was every kind of food you could ever dream of having for breakfast! See the pic below. We then decided to head to the beach. It was sunny, 80 degrees, crystal clear light blue water, and not crowded. The resort has lounging chairs and umbrellas on the beach for guests. We spent some time relaxing at the beach, reading, drinking a little, and generally enjoying the scenery. We then took a walk on the beach, which was also enjoyable. For lunch we ate near the pool and then spent some of the afternoon at the infinity pool overlooking the ocean. By later in the afternoon, we were both quite tired from all of the travel so we took a long nap. It was great. We then enjoyed a Mexican fiesta for dinner which was a large buffet of every kind of authentic Mexican food you could imagine. We then enjoyed some drinks by the pool (you could sit at a table with your feet in pool) after dinner.

Honeymoon in Mexico- Day 1

We took a delayed honeymoon over Christmas break. We went to Secrets Maroma Beach Resort near Cancun Mexico. Secrets is an all inclusive resort so we had unlimited food and drinks included. The resort was awesome! Our trip was January 3-7, 2011.
Day 1: We left early from St. Cloud to ensure we would make our flight. The weather in Minnesota is always unpredictable! (see the pic below with how it looked the day before we left) Our flight was non-stop and on time. Once we arrived we made our way through passport checks and customs at the Cancun airport (it was kind of a zoo!). We then met our shuttle bus driver who took us directly to the resort. As soon as we arrived we got a feel for how great this vacation was going to be: Free champagne at check in! Later that afternoon we explored the resort. It was almost overwhelming the amount of amenities and options. Pools, food, drinks, the ocean, hot tubs, a jacuzzi in our room, hammocks, cabanas, etc! We ate sushi for dinner that night. We then looked at the stars from the beach. It was a nice evening!

Wedding Photos

Here are some of our wedding photos. Our photographer, Merv Coleman, did a great job. It rained some of the day, but let up in time for some outdoor photos. The mountains outside of Red Lodge are in the background. We are very happy with how the photos turned out.
